Texas SNAP Payments: Who Receives Benefits During the Third Week of July 2025?

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Texas is a combined state and federal program that helps people with low incomes afford nutritious food for themselves and their families.

This is done using an electronic card called the Lone Star Card, which works similarly to a debit card. Recipients can use the funds in the card to shop for approved items at participating stores.

In addition to regular food items, SNAP benefits also cover seeds for home gardens. This encourages households to grow their own food and fosters self-sufficiency while improving nutrition, especially for families with children, seniors, or those living with disabilities.

How Are Texas SNAP Benefits Distributed?

Texas SNAP benefits are automatically deposited into recipients' Lone Star Cards every month. The exact date for payments depends on the last two digits of a person's case number, also known as their EDG number.

For the third week of July 2025, deposits will be issued between July 15 and July 21 following this schedule:

  • July 15: EDG numbers ending in 50–53
  • July 16: EDG numbers ending in 54–57
  • July 17: EDG numbers ending in 58–60
  • July 18: EDG numbers ending in 61–64
  • July 19: EDG numbers ending in 65–67
  • July 20: EDG numbers ending in 68–71
  • July 21: EDG numbers ending in 72–74

The benefits can be used at both physical and online stores that accept SNAP payments. For households certified before May 1, 2023, their original distribution schedule will remain, unless they haven't received payments for at least six months.

Who Qualifies for SNAP in Texas?

To qualify for SNAP benefits, applicants must meet specific income requirements. For example:

  • A household with four members must have a monthly income of less than $4,125.
  • Larger families can add $707 to this limit for each additional person in the household.

Additionally, most adults aged 16 to 59 are required to work or participate in approved job-related programs to maintain eligibility.

The amount of aid varies depending on household size. For instance:

  • A single person may receive up to $291 per month.
  • A family of five could qualify for up to $1,155 each month.

Special exemptions apply for individuals with disabilities or pregnant women. These groups may receive extended benefits without needing to meet the regular employment requirements.
